Flying with a baby

Are you planning a family vacation, but are worried about how to make it a success with your baby in tow? Flying with a baby can be a stressful experience for any parent, but with a little bit of planning and preparation, you can make the journey comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. Here are 10 top tips for flying with a baby successfully and some of our favorite products:

1. Make sure your baby is comfortable. This means ensuring your baby has the right clothing for the climate, a well-fitted car seat and stroller, and plenty of food and toys (these suction toys are great) to keep them entertained.

2. Book an aisle seat….or even better a bassinet seat. Most airlines offer bassinet seats, which can be great for your little one to sleep in during the flight. This will give you plenty of space to move around and access the overhead compartments if needed.

3. Schedule your flight for your baby’s nap time. This will give you a chance to rest as well and make sure your baby stays calm throughout the flight.

4. Pack headphones. This will help reduce the pressure in your baby’s ears during take-off and landing.  Here’s a link to one we love

5. Bring extra clothes in your carry-on. You never know when accidents happen, so it’s best to be prepared.

6. Bring a baby carrier…click here for our favorite

7. Consider bringing a white noise machine. This can be great for soothing your baby during the flight and blocking out some of the noise from other passengers.

8. Take advantage of pre-boarding. This will give you a chance to get your baby settled before the other passengers’ board.

9. Bring your baby’s favorite blanket or lovie. This will help your little one feel secure and comfortable throughout the flight.

10. Bring along a grandma, grandpa, or doula!  The extra set of hands can provide plenty of support and give you and your loved one some time to enjoy alone!

By following these tips, you can make your family vacation a success and ensure a smooth and successful flight with your baby. Bon voyage!
